Chelsea defender attracting significant interest

Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by London rivals Crystal Palace in their season opener on Sunday.

The Blues welcomed the Eagles to Stamford Bridge for their first game of the new Premier League campaign, but neither side could find a winner in West London.

Eberechi Eze did find the back of the net from a free-kick, but VAR intervened to disallow the goal.

This summer has been a busy one for Chelsea, with plenty of incomings and outgoings at Stamford Bridge so far.

Now, it appear that one member of Enzo Maresca’s squad is attracting significant interest from elsewhere.

As per CaughtOffside, defender Trevoh Chalobah faces an uncertain future at Chelsea amid interest from other clubs.

It is claimed that the Englishman could fall down the pecking order of central defenders in Maresca’s squad id the Blues sign a new player in that position.

That could prompt the club to allow Chalobah to leave, with a loan departure the mos likely solution.

Chalobah is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy and has now played more than 100 times for the club across all competitions, as well as spending time on loan at Lorient, Ipswich Town and Palace.

The defender’s contract isn’t set to expire until 2028, but the report claims that he could leave Stamford Bridge this month if Chelsea sign a new centre-back.

Italian giants Inter Milan are said to be monitoring the player’s situation, with a view to potentially making a move to sign him before the end of the current transfer window.

Palace are also said to be keeping tabs on the defender, while German sides Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are also credited with an interest in the 6-year-old.
