One of Leeds United’s wantaway stars now looks set to complete his long-awaited exit from the club on the verge of the new Premier League season.
Daniel Farke has overseen a significant overhaul of the Leeds squad following their promotion to the Premier League, with eight new signings completed to date.
Noah Okafor looks set to complete a £17.25 million move to West Yorkshire from AC Milan as Farke finally adds the winger he has been searching for all summer to his squad.
However, Leeds’ transfer business has not been restricted to new signings, with Illan Meslier looking set to join the extensive list of players to have left Elland Road this summer.
Now, Isaac Schmidt could become the next player to follow the likes of Mateo Joseph and loanee Joe Gelhardt out of the exit door, with his long-awaited transfer to Werder Bremen poised for completion.

Isaac Schmidt set to complete Leeds United departure
Leeds paid £4.6 million to sign Isaac Schmidt from St Gallen at the start of last season, but he has found opportunities hard to come by since.
Although Schmidt could start against Everton if Jayden Bogle is ruled out through injury, according to German publication Deich Stube, he will finally complete his move to the German side after weeks of negotiations on an initial loan deal.
The report states: “Isaac Schmidt is scheduled to travel to Bremen at the start of the week to undergo the mandatory medical. After that, the deal will be officially finalised.

“While the management at SV Werder Bremen has been in agreement with the Swiss full-back for weeks, they have now also reached an agreement in principle with his club Leeds United regarding a transfer.”
Before adding: “Werder Bremen will initially loan the 25-year-old until summer 2026, and they have secured an option to buy.”
Schmidt’s exit will free up space for a full-back signing
Whilst Schmidt’s exit has been telegraphed for several weeks, the news that the deal to take him to Werder Bremen is edging closer will finally bring the saga to an end.
Schmidt featured just 12 times for Leeds in all competitions and struggled in the pre-season friendly against AC Milan, when he was given a torrid time by Okafor, and Farke has decided to strengthen this key position to provide more cover for Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson.

Leeds are reported to be in advanced talks to sign James Justin from Leicester City, as Farke puts the final touches to his squad.
With the 2025 summer transfer window drawing to a close, it appears that Farke will get his wish of having a complete squad before the first international break.
