Detroit Lions DE Ahmed Hassanein Could be Done for 2025 Season

The Detroit Lions may be without rookie defensive end Ahmed Hassanein for the rest of the season. Head coach Dan Campbell confirmed Monday that Hassanein suffered a pectoral injury during Saturday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, and his return timeline remains uncertain.

“”I don’t have that answer yet.”,” Campbell said when asked if Hassanein will be out for the season.

The injury is a major blow to Hassanein, who was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He had been working to carve out a role along Detroit’s defensive front, bringing athletic upside and raw potential out of Boise State.

“You hate it for those guys first,” Campbell added. “Nobody feels it worse than they do. The good news with that kid is he’s a grinder.”

Whether or not Hassanein sees the field again this season will depend on his recovery and how the Lions choose to manage the roster spot. For now, his rookie year is in serious jeopardy.
