Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha did something vs Arsenal that two MUTV pundits spotted, one can become even ‘better’

Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha both appeared on the radar of two MUTV pundits after their respective performances for Manchester United against Arsenal.

Ruben Amorim deployed the two Manchester United summer signings in his left-sided and right-sided No 10 roles in his tactical system on Sunday afternoon.

New signing Benjamin Sesko had to settle for a place on the bench for the start of the Arsenal match, while Mason Mount was deployed up front in a false nine role.

Matheus Cunha showed United fans what to expect from him on the left flank after the 26-year-old Brazil international produced a solid overall performance in attack.

The former Wolves ace was lively over the course of the 90 minutes and he linked up superbly well with fellow United summer signing Bryan Mbeumo against Arsenal.

Bryan Mbeumo was deployed on the opposite flank to Matheus Cunha and the forward did not look out of place in Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United system.

The 26-year-old French-born winger, much like United teammate Cunha, played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford and was a lively presence in the attacking threat.

Mbeumo and Cunha performed well alongside Mason Mount in a trident attack, despite United losing 1-0 to Arsenal in their opening Premier League match.

Speaking on MUTV, ex-United defender Phil Bardsley admitted that he spotted ex-Brentford ace Mbeumo showing his desire to run against rival players on the pitch.

“He’s a willing runner,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“He likes the ball in behind, he likes a foot race.

“It doesn’t matter who he’s up against; he fancies his chances.”

MUTV pundit Ben Thornley singles out the Matheus Cunha ability that shows why he clicks with Bryan Mbeumo at Man Utd

Cunha’s performance for United against Arsenal earned him high praise and Ben Thornley wasted no time dropping a major compliment on Mbeumo’s teammate.

Ben Thornley said on MUTV that the Brazil international showed the impact he can have in the final third with his eye-catching ball-carrying ability against Arsenal.

However, the MUTV pundit even suggested Cunha could only become “better” once the former Wolves attacker has fully adapted to United’s playing style.

“Two seasons ago, he came here [with Wolves] and ran through us, like a knife through butter,” he said.

“Now we’ve got him in our team and we’re seeing the effects of what he can do.

“Running with the ball, he’s one of the best there is and I’m sure the fitter he [is] in terms of game-playing, the better he will become.”

Riccardo Calafiori broke the deadlock and found the winner for the Gunners at Old Trafford after United were unable to mount a comeback against Arsenal on Sunday.
