Two signed, six leave: Manchester United dream end to summer transfer window - gallery

Manchester United have just two weeks left in the summer transfer window if they are to add any new players to their first-team squad. Ruben Amorim has been backed with roughly £200 million on four signings this summer and there were promising signs of progress after their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on the opening weekend of the Premier League.

Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both looked bright on their competitive debuts, though the performance highlighted the need for both a goalkeeper and a central midfielder. United contemplated an audacious move for Brighton ace Carlos Baleba, but are not expected to make an offer, given it would take a club-record fee to land him before deadline day.

Amorim insists he is happy with the squad he has at his disposal for the rest of the season, though there is still clearly room for improvement. United will prioritise player sales in the final fortnight of the window and here is what a dream end to the summer could look like for them.
