The Phoenix Suns had an extremely busy start to the offseason that resulted in them pulling off a massive trade to begin the summer.
Phoenix began their offseason by trading star forward Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for a package centered around Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and the pick they used to select Khaman Maluach 10th overall in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Of course, this blockbuster trade came after talking to multiple teams regarding a potential move for Durant this summer with the Rockets ultimately giving the Suns the best trade package.
This was just the beginning for the Suns as they also bought out Bradley Beal’s contract, officially putting an end to their big three that failed to live up to their lofty expectations.
Now only Devin Booker remains from their star trio and he is set to be the focal point of their future after they signed him to a massive contract extension this offseason.
Heat’s trade offer for Kevin Durant revealed
While the Suns did accept the Rockets’ offer for Durant, there were reportedly multiple teams interested in landing the future Hall of Fame this offseason and the offer from the Miami Heat was recently revealed.
According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, the Heat offered a package of Andrew Wiggins, Terry Rozier, Jaime Jacquez Jr., Haywood Highsmith and the 20th overall pick in the 2025 draft for Durant.

While Miami’s package was a solid one as the Suns would swap Durant for another veteran forward in Wiggins along with a much-needed point guard in Rozier, it is clear that the Rockets were willing to give up more with Green being the main factor in Phoenix’s decision.

For the Heat, this is yet another star player that they have missed out on over the past few summers as they try to become a legit contender in the Eastern Conference once again.
On the other side, it is clear that the Suns were looking to add more young talent to their roster with them accepting the Rockets’ offer for Durant where they added Green, Maluach and other draft capital while also adding a veteran leader in Brooks.

Now the Suns are hoping that this trade pays off for them as they try to return to being a contender once again in the Western Conference.
