It has been an interesting offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors and one that has not pleased their fans too much.

Of course, the Warriors were expected to be aggressive this summer to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to chase another championship next season.

Instead, Golden State has failed to make any moves outside of their two selections in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.

This has mainly been due to the ongoing saga between the franchise and restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

It has been reported that Kuminga has turned down Golden State’s contract offer and with both sides unwilling to budge to agree on a new contract, it has caused the Warriors to miss out on a ton of free agent targets.

For Kuminga, his future in Golden State is up in the air with him reportedly not wanting to return to the franchise next season after falling out of Steve Kerr’s rotation last season.

Warriors’ Joe Lacob has clear stance on Jonathan Kuminga’s future

Despite this, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne recently reported that Warriors owner Joe Lacob told Kuminga that he wants him to be in Golden State “for a long time.”

This is a massive report by Shelburne and one that does not come as a complete surprise as there have been reports that many people in the Warriors’ organization want to bring bac Kuminga this offseason.

While that may be the case, Kuminga has shown little to no interest in signing a new contract with the Warriors, especially with them unwilling to meet his demand for a new deal.

Despite this, the young forward has not received a ton of interest from other teams this offseason and the ones who have shown interest in him and offered him a contract have failed to meet the Warriors’ high asking price in a potential sign-and-trade.

Because of this, it appears likely that Kuminga will remain in Golden State next season unless a team can get a deal done for him this summer but if he does return, expect the Warriors to search for a trade before the trade deadline next season.
