Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson is edging closer to the exit door as interest grows across Europe. Napoli’s striker crisis following Romelu Lukaku’s long-term injury has brought the Senegalese into their sights, while Aston Villa have already opened talks to secure his signature.
Napoli striker search after Lukaku blow
Napoli’s summer plans suffered a major setback when Lukaku picked up a high-grade thigh injury in a friendly against Olympiakos on August 14. The Belgian could now miss up to four months, leaving Lorenzo Lucca as the only recognised centre-forward in the squad.
In response, the Serie A champions have already opened discussions with Manchester United about taking Rasmus Hojlund on loan. Parallel to that, reports confirm Napoli are in close contact with Jackson’s representatives.
However, finances may prove decisive. The current Chelsea asking price is in around the £60-65m region – a figure that could yet be a struggle for Napoli in this market. Despite however, the Italian champions want to explore the option before the window closes.
Aston Villa talks underway for Jackson
In England, Aston Villa are emerging as the strongest contenders. Unai Emery, who previously coached Jackson at Villarreal, is pushing for a reunion to add depth and pace in attack. Villa have already held initial talks with Chelsea. Transfer estimates between £60–70 million are being discussed, though Profit and Sustainability Rules may create restrictions. Even so, Villa’s intent is genuine and their pursuit active.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United remain attentive, having been offered Jackson earlier this month. Bayern Munich, however, have ruled themselves out after assessing their squad as complete.
Author’s View
Chelsea’s stance has softened since initially demanding £80 million. Both Napoli and Villa present realistic destinations, though financial capacity will decide. Villa’s Emery link feels like the strongest pull, but Napoli’s urgent need following Lukaku’s injury ensures they remain firmly in contention. Either way, Jackson looks set for a move before deadline day.
