Manchester City have reportedly dropped their interest in Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, a move which Liverpool could benefit from.
In recent weeks, the future of Savinho came into doubt after he was left out of City's 4-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Tottenham Hotspur have been reportedly in talks to sign the 21-year-old, but City have now decided that the player will not be sold.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, the decision from City also means that Pep Guardiola's side has dropped interest in Rodrygo, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and Arsenal this summer.

The Reds began their 2025-26 Premier League title defence on a high after winning 4-2 at Anfield against AFC Bournemouth on Friday night, where Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa, and Mohamed Salah all found the net.
Irrespective of whether Chiesa stays or leaves, Liverpool need depth in their attacking areas, especially after the departures of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. Moreover, Reds youngster Ben Doak is also reportedly looking to leave the club to join the Cherries, while the future of Harvey Elliott is also in doubt.
The Premier League champions have been heavily linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but the Reds could be tempted to make a concrete effort for Rodrygo, now that City are out of the way.
Real Madrid have reportedly set an asking price of €90m (£76.8m) for the 24-year-old, who has been overshadowed by Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior over the past 12 months.
Rodrygo would be a cracking signing for Liverpool

The Brazilian registered just six goals and six assists in 30 top-flight appearances in 2024-25, and played a limited role for Los Blancos in the Club World Cup.
Rodrygo could become a bit-part player under Xabi Alonso this season, and while he prefers to stay in Spain, the winger is rumoured to have made Anfield his preferred transfer destination should he leave the club.
With the Isak deal hitting an impasse, Liverpool could switch attention towards the former Santos winger, whose creativity and eye for goal could help provide chances for the likes of Ekitike and Salah.
As it stands, City are possibly out of the race for Rodrygo, and it could open up the door for the Reds to lure him away from Bernabeu, although Arne Slot may have other ideas.
