Player admits he has no interest in Nottingham Forest move after £22m bid rejected

It is an exciting time to support Nottingham Forest.

The Reds cruised to a 3-1 win over Brentford in their Premier League opener on Sunday, just days after they were granted access into the UEFA Europa League ahead of Crystal Palace.

Nottingham Forest are now looking to strengthen for Nuno Espirito Santo even further after bringing James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson to the City Ground – although Jamie Leweling is unlikely to join.

Jamie Leweling says “no” when asked if he wants Nottingham Forest move

Florian Plettenburg of Sky Sports recently claimed that Nottingham Forest saw a €25m (£22m) bid rejected for the Germany international, with VfB Stuttgart adamant he is not for sale.

Now, Leweling has discussed the matter himself when speaking to SWR Sport, issuing a firm “no” when asked if he actually wants to join Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old said: “No, that’s why I’m sitting here.

“I always tell my agents to keep things like that far away from me. That’s why I don’t have much to do with what the clubs and agents do among themselves. I want to play football, I want to score goals, and the rest will follow eventually.”

Leweling scored five goals and provided four assists in 37 appearances across all competitions last season – which is not the greatest return – so Nottingham Forest fans may not be too bothered about missing out on the German.

TBR Football understand Nottingham Forest are also making progress with a move for Douglas Luiz of Juventus.

Nottingham Forest have already signed a different striker in Arnaut Kalimuendo

Those on the recruitment team at Nottingham Forest did not waste any time trying to change Leweling’s mind, it seems, as Arnaut Kalimuendo has already been signed.

Nottingham Forest have just announced the €31.5m (£27m) signing of the Frenchman from Rennes, who will compete against Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi for a start under Nuno.

Kalimuendo has been likened to Jermain Defoe in the past, so he represents an exciting addition for the Reds – who are certainly showing a lot of ambition this summer.
