Manchester United make decision on future of 22-year-old prospect after Arsenal game

Rasmus Hojlund missing the Arsenal game was a big indication from Manchester United in their quest to sell the striker.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Give Me Sport, Manchester United are ready to sell Rasmus Hojlund, with AC Milan pushing to get a deal done. The striker’s omission from the Arsenal game was a big indicator of the club’s stance on the Danish attacker, with more clubs keeping tabs on the situation.

Benjamin Sesko made his debut for Manchester United, with the striker’s arrival at the club probably the cue to sell Rasmus Hojlund. The Danish striker is not seen as part of Ruben Amorim’s plans moving forward, as Sesko’s arrival does allow the Red Devils to plan on a departure.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic confirmed before Sunday’s game against Arsenal that Hojlund was left out of the squad for the opening game. That decision was a big enough indicator of Manchester United’s plans to sell him, as Fabrizio Romano also commented on the Dane’s situation.

Romano said, “Rasmus Hojlund [was] out of the squad and we know that Manchester United are trying to find a solution for him.“They want Hojlund to go. They want to sell Hojlund as soon as possible.”

“If a sale is not going to be possible, they want to do a loan with an option to buy – a 6 million euro loan fee, an option to buy around 40-45.“So negotiations will now follow for Rasmus Hojlund, with interest from AC Milan and more clubs around Europe, not only Milan.”

AC Milan have been pushing for an agreement with Manchester United and the player’s side. However, they are not alone, as Borussia Dortmund are keen, while Fulham were also showing an interest in the striker.

Hence, there could be a few proposals on Manchester United’s table for the 22-year-old prospect, although it’s AC Milan who are closer to an agreement for the Danish striker. It remains to be seen whether the Rossoneri can find a way to get a deal done with the Red Devils.

Rasmus Hojlund sale is complicated

Irrespective of whether Manchester United wants to sell Hojlund, the sale of the striker will be complicated, and they could even struggle to recoup big money from his sale. The Dane also made comments a few weeks ago stating he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Manchester United are keen to offload players and trim their squad, as they do not have European football this season. While it is expected to see the Dane leave, it remains to be seen where, as AC Milan will hope he chooses them over others.
