The Valley Suns announced Paul Jesperson will be the head coach of the team for the 2025-26 season.
He served as an assistant coach last season under John Little, who was promoted to the Suns’ NBA staff. Before he was named the Valley Suns head coach, Jesperson was named to the Sacramento Kings coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.
The Valley Suns are the Phoenix Suns G League affiliate and entering their second season at Mullett Arena.
“Paul is ready to take this next step in his career as he moves into the role of head coach,” said Valley Suns general manager Brendan Sabean. “His background and experience complement our vision to utilize the G League as a lifeline of development for Suns and Valley Suns players. He’s a natural fit for the job and I’m looking forward to seeing the impact he can make as head coach.”
Who is Paul Jesperson?
Jesperson previously worked as a player development/assistant coach for the Oklahoma Sooners.
He was also a player development coach for two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks.
His college career was highlighted by a game-winning buzzer beater in the 2016 NCAA Tournament when No. 11 Northern Iowa beat No. 6 seed Texas in the first round.
He also played for the Virginia Cavaliers from 2011-13.
What did the Valley Suns do last year?
Last season, Jesperson helped the Valley Suns earn a playoff berth with a 20-14 record in the regular season.
They won their first round playoff series against the Santa Cruz Warriors.
The team led the NBA G League in 3-point field goals per game with 16.2.
