Steelers cut ties with former Bengals linebacker

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced multiple roster moves Monday afternoon, including that they have cut former Bengals linebacker Devin Harper.

In addition to Harper, defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko and receiver Roc Taylor were also released.

Harper, a former Oklahoma State star, was on Pittsburgh’s practice squad last offseason but did not appear in a game. Prior to signing with the Steelers, Harper spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys.

He has appeared in nine games in his NFL career, making five tackles. Harper had a pair of tackles this preseason for the Steelers.

As for Fehoko, the defensive tackle appeared in 17 games across the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, recording 36 tackles during that time. A former national championship winner with LSU, Fehoko had been with the Steelers off and on since 2023 but did not appear in a game.

Finally, Roc Taylor is an undrafted free agent out of the University of Memphis. The All-AAC performer had at least 950 yards each of his last two seasons with the Tigers. Taylor caught 5 passes for 77 yards this preseason for the Steelers.

While the Steelers cut three players, they also added three to their roster in defensive back Kam Alexander, long snapper Jake McQuaide and offensive tackle Julian Pearl.

Alexander, who spent last season at Oregon, participated in rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons after going undrafted. He originally signed with the Seahawks during training camp.

McQuaide spent his first 10 seasons in the NFL with the Rams organization, making the Pro Bowl twice. He has also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings and Miami Dolphins. In addition, he spent time on the Bears practice squad. The former Ohio State football player has appeared in 197 career games.

Pearl, who played college football at Illinois, signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft. He has also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns.
