West Ham got their Premier League campaign off to the worst possible start as they lost 3-0 at the Stadium of Light to Sunderland.
Whilst the data suggests that the margin of the defeat was perhaps harsh for Graham Potter’s side, that will be of little comfort to the West Ham fans who made the long trip up north over the weekend.
Potter could be the first manager to be sacked this season, with the atmosphere in East London set to turn toxic if results do not begin to improve.
After an underwhelming transfer window so far, West Ham’s vice-chairwoman Karren Brady and her comments regarding the incomings at the London Stadium will only infuriate supporters even further.

West Ham fans to be furious after delusional Brady comments
It was well reported that Potter wanted a full-scale rebuild of his midfield over the summer, but the manager has been sent to the Premier League without any of the new tools that he requested.

The sale of Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham was another bitter blow that appears likely to cause immense damage to the Hammers’ campaign.
This makes Brady’s comments in The Sun on 15 August, before their thrashing against Sunderland, even more bizarre.
“In an era when too many clubs have bought players without a clear plan, this year we are targeting signings who genuinely improve the team,” Brady said.
West Ham’s signings so far this summer:
Callum Wilson
Kyle Walker-Peters
Mads Hermansen
El Hadji Malick Diouf
Jean-Clair Todibo
“We know it’s not about how much you spend, it’s how you spend it. It’s about adding quality that makes an immediate impact, strengthening where it counts and making sure every new arrival moves us closer to challenging the very best.
“That’s why, as this season kicks off, there’s real hope around the London Stadium – hope built not on blind optimism but on a squad being shaped to deliver for our supporters.”
Optimistic is perhaps the last word the majority would use to describe West Ham supporters at the moment and it’s easy to see why when you look at their additions.
Brady’s comments make her look like she’s losing the plot as the Hammers hierarchy evidently showing their disconnect with the club’s supporters.

More additions like Diouf needed
Whilst Hermansen had a debut to forget in goal and Wilson failed to make an impact from the bench, Diouf showed signs of promise.
The 20-year-old was unfortunate not to score after his effort was cleared off the line by Dan Ballard in what turned out to be one of the only positives the travelling supporters could take with them back to East London.
More exciting additions like this need to be funded by David Sullivan and Co., or they risk Jarrod Bowen’s speeches after matches criticising his teammates being a regular occurrence throughout the campaign.
