The Charlotte Hornets are hiring Will Weaver as a coaching advisor to head coach Charles Lee, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Weaver has a wide range of coaching experience. Most recently, he was an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2023-24 season, his second stint with the team.
He has also worked as an assistant for the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers, as well as in the college ranks at Sam Houston State and Texas.
Outside the NBA, Weaver has been a head coach with the French team Paris Basketball, the Long Island Nets in the G League, and the Sydney Kings in Australia's NBL.
He won G League Coach of the Year in 2018-19 with Long Island.
On the international stage, Weaver joined the Australian national team in 2014 as an assistant under Andrej Lemanis at the FIBA World Cup. He continued with the Boomers through at least 2018, including at the 2016 Olympics.
