It means the Brazilian will be staying at the Etihad this season.

Savinho only arrived at the club last summer, going on to make 29 Premier League appearances and another nine in the Champions League.

The winger also provided ten assists in all competitions.

Spurs may now move onto other wide targets, while they also close in on signing Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

Savinho was believed to be open to making the switch to north London after just one season in Manchester.

Spurs are in the market for another attacking option after James Maddison suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Whilst Savinho rarely plays in attacking midfield and features more as a right-winger, he will provide much-needed depth for the squad.

The Brazilian will compete with new signing Mohammed Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson for starting roles out wide.

What has Pep Guardiola said on Savinho?

After a hat-trick of assists in a 4-1 win over West Ham in January, City boss Pep Guardiola waxed lyrical about Savinho.

"I think he’s clean in his mind," he said. "He doesn’t think too much in his head. When you are many years here, players think they deserve something special for what they have done.

Spurs have had a busy summer and it looks like Eze will be next, not Savinho

"That is a big mistake. You have to prove it again and again. Savinho has everything to win and prove.

"Having old fashioned football with left foot on the left and right on the right, these kinds of crosses help the kind of striker we have.

"The second goal at Leicester and the second goal today. He has a lot to improve, he is not aggressive enough without the ball.

"But right now he has something special to help the team.

"His goal was lucky, but the two assists were brilliant. I am so happy for him, and he deserves to play."

Away from the transfer market, Spurs are preparing for their opening match of the season.

Their Europa League title triumph means they face Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup.

talkSPORT will have live coverage of the match on Wednesday night.

Thomas Frank can deliver silverware in his first competitive match as Spurs boss since joining from Brentford earlier in the summer.

They will then host Burnley in their first match of the new Premier League season on Saturday.
