Lions rookie defender dealing with pectoral injury, might not return this season

ALLEN PARK -- Ahmed Hassanein is dealing with a pectoral injury, and the Detroit Lions aren’t sure if they’ll get the rookie edge rusher back this season.

Hassanein went down with an injury early in the third quarter during the team’s 24-17 preseason loss to the Miami Dolphins. He wasn’t directly involved on the play, with Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon getting tackled for a loss by Ezekiel Turner and Nate Lynn. But Hassanein took a nasty shot on a double-team block, violently getting thrown to the ground.
