The Dallas Cowboys and All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons remain at a standstill as both parties negotiate a new long-term contract, as ESPN's Adam Schefter reported during a Monday episode of "Get Up."
"It's gotten personal, and they're no closer to a deal. There's no reason to think that the Dallas Cowboys and Micah Parsons will be able to work out a deal before the start of the regular season." Schefter said, via Blogging the Boys' RJ Ochoa. "Now, it's August 18th, and sides always could come together. But we want to emphasize there have been zero contract negotiations since late March and early April. Is that going to change all of a sudden? I don't think so."
As a continuation of Parsons' career in Dallas appears to become more unlikely, a number of suitors for his services have emerged, with one league insider believing one could come from the NFC Central division.
NFL insider expects Packers to emerge as trade candidate for Parsons
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, in an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday afternoon, said he expects the Green Bay Packers "to be among the teams really interested" in acquiring Micah Parsons — so long as the Cowboys make him available for trade.
"They have paid Jordan Love. They have a bunch of really good young players, but there are some guys, like Quay Walker, they have not paid," Rapoport said. "They have money to spend, and they're really good. That's the kind of team that I would say, if Micah was going to be traded, that he'd be going to.
"Because it's, like, 'We need one final piece. This guy's an absolute dog. He's worth all the money, so pay him all the money... It'd be worth it because you get Micah Parsons."
Parsons made his intention of being dealt away from the Cowboys known on Aug. 1, when he wrote a lengthy statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption "Thank you Dallas."
