With the 2025-26 NBA season still a couple of months away, teams are continuing to make moves to round out their rosters and coaching staff.
New Sacramento Kings general manager Scott Perry has hired Will Scott to be Stockton’s head coach, heading into 2025-26. Hoops Hype’s Michael Scotto broke the news on Monday.
After moving on from Mike Brown mid-season — naming Doug Christie interim, before awarding him the long-term position early in the offseason — there were some coaching staff changes still to be made.
Quinton Crawford, head coach of the Stoctkon Kings last season, was hired under Brown. After leading Sacramento’s G-League squad to its first championship last season, Crawford joined the Portland Trail Blazers as an assistant coach.
The Sacramento Kings are hiring Will Scott as Stockton Kings G League head coach, sources told @hoopshype. Scott has been an associate head coach for Stockton. Will Scott has been with Sacramento since 2019, functioning as a lead assistant in Stockton under Crawford and Lindsey Harding. He spent time with the Los Angeles Lakers, Sparks, and Indiana University prior.
Perry mentioned his desire to acclimate with the staffers he inherited from Monte McNair’s tenure, and clearly, he was impressed enough with Will Scott to let him lead Stockton.
Sacramento has found great use out of their G-League program in recent years, with undrafted players Keon Ellis and Isaac Jones being phenomenal examples.

The Sacramento Kings will play every other NBA team at least twice during the 2025-26 season.
Of course, the details of their recent schedule release go beyond that, but it’s important to keep that simple fact in mind.
Regarded as one of the lower-tier teams in the Western Conference adds to their difficulty. Sacramento will only play each Eastern Conference team twice, per usual.
