Chelsea are closing in on a deal for 22-year-old Xavi Simons, who left PSG earlier this year, though Manchester Cityare also keeping an eye on the Dutch midfielder. No matter where he ends up, PSGare set to cash infrom the move.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that RB Leipzighave accepted an €80 million offer for Simons, with €55 million due upfront. Simons is under contract with Leipziguntil June 2027, and PSG smartly included a sell-on clause that guarantees them a cut of any future transfer.
That approach has already worked in their favor.Adam Crafton of The Athletic pointed out that PSG pocketed €17 million (£15 million) from HugoEkitiké’s recent transfer to Liverpool thanks to the samekind of clause.

Recently,Sky SportGermany’s Florian Plettenberg reported that Bayern Munichhave shown serious interest in Simons, but a deal seems unlikely. The main reason is that Simons is focusing on joining Chelsea. A verbal agreement with the club is already in place and considered certain. However, the final terms between the two clubs are still pending.
