Euro giants make contact with Manchester United to sign 22-year-old after injury blow

Napoli have asked Manchester United for the conditions to take Rasmus Hojlund on loan following the injury to Romelu Lukaku.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Napoli are in the race for Rasmus Hojlund and have asked Manchester United for conditions to take the Danish striker on loan. Antonio Conte’s side are now exploring a move for the 22-year-old forward following the serious injury to Romelu Lukaku.

Napoli have moved with purpose in this transfer window following their dramatic Serie A-winning campaign last season. Antonio Conte’s side managed to bring Kevin De Bruyne to Naples on a free transfer, while signing some more quality names during the window.

Conte wanted a striker since the start of the window, and after a prolonged chase of Darwin Nunez, they cooled their interest as the Liverpool star joined Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia. Napoli then went on to sign Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese as an alternative to the Uruguayan.

While they were not expected to make a move for another striker, the serious muscle injury to Romelu Lukaku has brought them back into the market. The Belgian is expected to miss around three months of action, which will be a blow for Conte in that period of the campaign. Hence, a new striker is being considered as a priority, with Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund a certain target.

Napoli have asked Manchester United for conditions to take the 22-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season. Whether Conte’s side are willing to include a financial commitment to please the Red Devils, although they are widely expected to push for a buy option of some sort.

Rasmus Hojlund on the move

Manchester United are keen to offload Hojlund at the earliest, having omitted the 22-year-old from their plans for the opening game against Arsenal. AC Milan have been pushing to get a deal done for the Danish striker, with talk of a heavy loan fee and a €45 million buy option mooted, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on Give Me Sport.

With Napoli entering the race, it might be concerning for AC Milan, given that the Serie A holders are playing Champions League football. Hojund knows the Italian league well following his spell with Atalanta, and could think about joining up with Conte’s side, although any deal might depend on both sides agreeing on favourable terms.
