Jason Sudeikis’ Hotly Debated Sports Comedy Returns to Streaming Charts Following Season 4 Kick Off

It hasn’t even been a month since Ted Lasso premiered the first batch of footage from Season 4, and the hit show starring Jason Sudeikis is already back in the streaming spotlight. Despite airing its last episode more than two years ago, Ted Lasso is still one of the most popular shows in the world on Apple TV+ — it’s currently sitting at #5 on streaming charts in America. The show tells the story of a beloved American football coach who comes overseas to coach AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League team. Unfortunately, his fame and accolades from his time as an American football coach didn’t translate overseas.

Apple TV+ finally released the first teaser for Ted Lasso Season 4 back during the end of July, and the streamer also confirmed that the show will return in 2026. Though it’s still unclear exactly when, it likely will be closer to the start of the year than the end. Most of the show’s leading stars, like Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, and Nick Mohammed, are all confirmed to reprise their roles in Season 4, but it’s still going to look different from what fans grew accustomed to through the first three seasons.

Mohammed exclusively told Collider earlier this year thatTed Lasso Season 4 would feature a host of new characters, which makes sense, now that more story details have been revealed. After Ted left England at the end of Season 3 to go back home to his family, it’s confirmed that he’s back to coach a women’s division at AFC Richmond. Waddingham said coming back for more Ted Lasso was like “exhuming a dead dog,” which is an apt comparison, considering many felt the show ended on the right note in Season 3.

What Else Is Streaming on Apple TV+ Right Now?

The most popular show on Apple TV+ at the time of writing is Chief of War, the historical epic series starring Jason Momoa. Following closely behind it is the second season of Seth Rogen’s Platonic — Rogen also found success earlier this year with The Studio, which was renewed for Season 2. Other shows that have gone off the air, like Stick (Owen Wilson), Severance (Adam Scott), and Shrinking (Harrison Ford) are also topping streaming charts on Apple TV+ with new seasons on the way.

Ted Lasso is still one of the most popular shows in the world on Apple TV+. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the fourth season of Ted Lasso.
