Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler’s love for basketball is undeniable. The fact that he still remains one of the top players in the NBA heading into his 15th season is a testament to this notion.
Apart from his love affair with basketball, however, Butler is also a big fan of other sports, including tennis. This is exactly why the six-time All-Star had to react to the unexpected turn of events during the final of the Cincinnati Open on Monday.
Carlos Alcaraz bagged his first championship at the Cincinnati Open after defeating world No. 1 Jannik Sinner. Alcaraz’s win came in bizarre circumstances, though, as Sinner was forced to retire due to an apparent illness. Sinner looked out of sorts from the beginning of the match, and the 24-year-old ended up pulling out of the contest after just 23 minutes.
Alcaraz took to Instagram to send a message to his opponent after the match.
“I’m so sorry for Jannik! Nobody likes to win because their opponent retires, especially in a final like this. Wishing you a speedy recovery! ❤️ Very happy with my week in Cincinnati and feeling ready for the US Open! 💪🏻🏆” Alcaraz wrote.
Butler, who himself has played through injury multiple times in his career, caught wind of Alcaraz’s statement. The Warriors forward responded using just one word.
“VAMOS!” Butler wrote, which translates to “let’s go” in English.

Butler is entering his first full season with the Warriors following his mid-season trade from the Miami Heat in 2024-25. The 35-year-old should benefit from a full offseason with Golden State as he looks to help lead his squad to a championship this coming season alongside Steph Curry and Co.
