Leeds United 1-0 Everton: Post-Match Leeds United Player Ratings

Daniel Farke's side dominated against a disappointing Everton performance. Leeds enjoyed the majority of the ball and created 21 chances in the match with a 2.07 xG accumalated.

For Leeds, it was the ideal start to life back in the top flight, bagging three points and a clean sheet in front of a ferocious home atmosphere at Elland Road.

It took to the 84th minute for a breakthrough, when debutant Lukas Nmecha calmly slotted his penalty into the bottom right corner of the Everton goal.

Everton, meanwhile, left West Yorkshire frustrated, offering very little going forward, albeit organised defensively.

It's a huge opening win for Farke though, who won't get ahead of himself just yet. The German is well aware of the surprises the Premier League can throw at any given moment.

Here are VAVEL's player ratings from tonight's win.

[Stats via FotMob]

Lucas Perri - 7

The Brazilian was the starting goalkeeper for Lyon who finished the Ligue 1 campaign in 6th and kept 10 clean sheets, and today Perri showed his quality.

Only had to make one save, but it's clear his experience and commanding of his area will be key all season for this Leeds United side. The Brazilian has a long kick in his locker which he showed on a few occasions today helping Leeds get up the pitch.

Jayden Bogle - 8

Slight doubt before the match whether Jayden Bogle would be fit enough to start - but the Leeds fans will be delighted he was. Defensively, Bogle kept the dangerous Illiman Ndiaye quiet and was a non stop overlapping threat offensively, superb display from the right back.

Joe Rodon - 8

Joe Rodon was an absolute rock at the back for Leeds and the stats from the match back it up; five clearances, two interceptions, two recoveries and 100% success in ground duels.

A solid outing from a player who is expected to remain a stalwart in Leeds' side this season.

Pascal Struijk - 8

Just like his partner, Pascal Struijk put in a defensive display of the highest quality and was dominant aerially with his 7 headed clearances.

Struijk and Rodon are two centre backs that offer balance and calmness on the ball, with the pair showing their qualities tonight.

Gabriel Gudmundsson - 9

With the loss of Junior Firpo in the summer, Leeds needed to replace him with a full back that offers qualities both offensively and defensively. Today the Swedish international showed exactly why he was brought in to be the replacement.

Defensively no other player won as many duels as Gudmundsson, winning 7 in the match accompanied with 4 clearances and 2 interceptions. Offensively, Gabriel Gudmundsson was a constant threat on the overlap, his crossing will be a big threat to the opposition. Fantastic debut for the Swede.

Ethan Ampadu - 8

The midfield 3 were all fantastic for Leeds, at the base of the 3 was Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu. Ampadu won 80% of his ground duels, breaking up the game and controlling the tempo.

Ao Tanaka - 10

The first of two 10/10 ratings is awarded to Ao Tanaka.

Leeds United fans know how good he is from his fantastic season in the EFL Championship, but now it's time for the world to know about the Japanese international.

Tanaka was outstanding, dictating the tempo in midfield and breaking up Everton’s counterattacks. His vision and constant energy in the midfield provided the platform for Leeds to dominate.

Unbelievable display from the 26 year old midfielder.

Anton Stach - 10 [MOTM]

The second of two 10/10 ratings and VAVEL's MOTM is awarded to Anton Stach. The German midfielder showed exactly why Leeds United brought him for £17,400,000 this summer.

Stach was fantastic offensively and defensively similar to Tanaka, he was winning the ball back, 4 defensive recoveries, 5 clearances when Leeds were under pressure, all whilst being the most creative player in the match, creating 4 chances for his teammates.

Stach was also a threat in front of goal, having a powerful strike on the edge of the box parried away and a few other half chances. If Stach can continue performing to this level, alongside Tanaka and Ampadu, Leeds will have a fantastic chance at staying up this season.

Daniel James - 7

As Daniel James has always been, he was a constant threat with his pace, however, lacked the end product. A number of crosses that didn't reach an attacker, however, James was helping Bogle out defensively on Illiman Ndiaye and that mustn't go unnoticed and offensively the pair had a nice linkup.

Wilfried Gnonto - 7

Gnonto at his best is a handful to contain and we saw flashes of that tonight. His agility and quick bursts were a threat to Everton and was the biggest attacking threat in the frontline for Leeds.

Joel Piroe - 7

Piroe was constantly finding himself in the right positions, had one effort from close ranged saved and another blocked. In the second half the Dutch striker found it tougher being marked out the game for periods.

Substitutes

Brenden Aaronson - 6

Decent showing from the American, creating 2 chances for his teammates and winning 50% of his duels. Late into the game got turned too easy by Dewsbury-Hall that ended with Perri having to save a shot.

Ilia Gruev - 6

Held his position in the heart of the midfield well, was the shield in front of the back 4 that was eventually needed.

Jack Harrison - 6

Harrison has a job on his hands to win back the fans support, but with more hard working and gritty cameos like that he can definitely do so.

Lukas Nmecha - 8

Match winner.

The German striker couldn't have asked for a better moment to introduce himself to the Leeds United fans.

Calmly slotting away his penalty past Jordan Pickford, the German also added impact in his hold-up play to help bring Leeds up the pitch. Quite the perfect cameo from the summer signing.

Sean Longstaff - N/A
