Numerous posts and headlines have been written about Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson‘s repost of a bible verse. The problem is that the narrative going around online that people are upset with the star quarterback reposting a message from right-wing pundit Charlie Kirk isn’t true at all.
Jackson reposted a message from the controversial pundit, who is known for going on questionable crusades about DEI and race in Texas. However, Kirk’s message was more boring than fiery on Sunday.
“It’s all about Jesus,” Kirk posted.
A handful of writers have combed through posts on social media looking for negative messages about the Jacksons’ choice to repost Kirk. While there are some negative messages (and plenty from bots), the majority of messages have been positive.

So positive in fact, online agitators have made more claims about people being upset than outraged posters.
Jon Root chose to take the lazy path. of saying Jackson is “taking some major heat for it” without posting a screenshot of the evidence. Because there isn’t much.

It’s from the playbook of Charlie Kirk

Like with the Sydney Sweeney fake controversy, conservatives are making up a narrative online that isn’t true.
🧵Right-wing extremists like Libs of Tiktok and Charlie Kirk totally concocted the Sydney Sweeney "outrage."
The supposed left-wing outrage at Sweeney never happened. Republicans made it up.

The majority of responses to Root and others on X have supported the report from Jackson.
“I am totally in on Lamar with his post,” posted one person. “it’s his right and beliefs . Having said that, when you come out like that and express what you feel, you do take heat. He should be no different and I’m sure he knew what he was doing and it was important for him to post it. IMO : Let’s not be hypocrites here to think that he needs a pass and it’s okay for others to take heat . That’s the only spin I wanted to put on this article . On another note I thing Lamar is a great athlete and his beliefs are his beliefs !”
“Lamar just ignore these hate people. Just play great football,” posted another.
Jackson did nothing wrong by reposting the message, even if it came from a lame messenger. Fortunately, 99% of the internet agrees, even if the 1% wants you to believe that isn’t so.
