The Green Bay Packers are not exactly known for making high-profile trade for the NFL’s top players. Instead, they have created a consistent winning football team by drafting and developing their own players, inking their top talent to big extensions, and supplementing their roster with less coveted free agents. That being said, they are one of the teams that is most often mentioned when the NFL’s biggest stars are seeking a trade, or are rumored to be on the block.
Of course, these trades never end up involving the Packers, and most of the people throwing Green Bay’s name around in the rumors are their own fans.
That being said, the Packers are not afraid to deviate from their usual way of business when an opportunity falls into their lap, and many are wondering if Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons might be the next big name Green Bay takes a swing at acquiring.
Ian Rapoport Names the Green Bay Packers as the “Type” of Team Micah Parsons Could Be Traded to
Green Bay Packers, Dontayvion Wicks, Micah Parsons
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (13) catches a touchdown pass against Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons (11) during the second quarter of their wild card playoff game Sunday, January 14, 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Parsons, the four-time Pro Bowl outside linebacker of the Dallas Cowboys, formerly requested a trade away from the organization following months of contract negotiations that, in his view, are not going in the direction he would like them to.
Ever since he requested the trade, multiple teams have been named as possible landing spots for the two-time First Team All-Pro. Of course, Packers fans have been posting on social media regarding their desire for Green Bay to go and get the disgruntled star and pay him what he wants.
And renowned NFL insider Ian Rapoport thinks that the Packers are actually one of the teams that could do that:
🧀 “I would expect that the Packers would be among the teams interested.”
“That’s the kind of team that I would say, if Micah was going to be traded, that he’d be going to.”

“I would expect that the Packers would be among the teams interested,” Rapoport said. “They have money to spend, and they are really good. That’s the kind of team that I would say, if Micah was going to be traded, that he’d be going to.”
The key word, of course, is “if.” Despite the fact that Parsons requested a trade, there are not many who believe that he actually will be traded. The Cowboys certainly have no intention of honoring his request, and will try to get a deal done before the season begins.
They did a similar thing last year when their star wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, was holding out for a new contract.
And he got one, a deal that made him (at the time) the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.
Parsons will likely see his saga with Dallas reach a similar conclusion, but until it does the Packers will continue to be a team mentioned in trade rumors.
