Ruben Amorim has six Man Utd undroppables vs Fulham despite Arsenal defeat

Manchester United may have fallen to an opening-day Premier League defeat against Arsenal, but there was plenty to admire at Old Trafford. Several United players offered Ruben Amorim encouragement about overseeing a vastly improved campaign, but a positive result against Fulham this weekend is essential.

The Red Devils' bright display in the 1-0 loss to Arsenal will be forgotten quickly if they remain winless after two matches and the pressure ramps up a notch. But Amorim should attempt to replicate the performance by keeping much of his team the same against the Cottagers.

Express Sport looks at six players who should be guaranteed starts for Sunday's trip to Craven Cottage.

Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro looks destined to eventually realise his potential as one of the world's best centre-backs. He only turns 20 in November and already looks suited to Premier League football.

The Frenchman was so dominant in the air as part of a commendable defensive display against Arsenal, strengthening his status among the first names on the teamsheet.

Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt produced, arguably, his most convincing performance as a United defender to date last time out.

The Dutchman was resolute in the tackle and contributed to attacks by calmly bringing the ball into midfield. He must keep his place ahead of Harry Maguire, for now.

Patrick Dorgu

Patrick Dorgu continued to show very promising glimpses down the left flank, including when he struck the post with a fierce effort that United fans could become accustomed to.

He is primed for a huge campaign and will likely start almost all of the Red Devils' Premier League games.

Mason Mount

Realistically, once Benjamin Sesko is up to speed, Mason Mount is bound to be the player sacrificed rather than Bruno Fernandes.

Yet, based on his performance against Arsenal, the United No. 7 deserves to continue starting matches. He is enjoying his best run of fitness since joining the club and looks a real asset.

Bryan Mbeumo

No-brainer. Bryan Mbeumo so clearly elevates the quality of United's attack, and he was unfortunate not to score a debut goal.

If Sesko is not yet ready to start against Fulham, Mbeumo could start centrally to accommodate Mount.

Matheus Cunha

Matheus Cunha was the best player on the pitch on Sunday. The thought of United playing without the Brazilian at the heart of things already feels daunting.

He will start, and once Amorim's side start scoring goals, you could safely bet that Cunha will be involved on a regular basis.
