The future of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak remains unknown, so Eddie Howe has to look for his replacement.
Following their goalless draw against Aston Villa, it was evident that new options up front are needed if the Magpies are going to find any success this season.
Alexander Isak has made himself unavailable for Newcastle United, in the hope that he can force a move away to Liverpool, who have already made a bid of £110million for him this summer.
The Sweden international is currently training away from the first team, and even after discussions with Eddie Howe, he has not come to his senses and played while the transfer saga is ongoing.
Newcastle are hoping to sign another striker before the transfer window closes, and there is even hope that a deal can be done for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa before the game against Liverpool on Monday.
While the Magpies could spend the rest of the summer chasing strikers who could be just out of their reach, there is a young Premier League star who clearly has no future at his club who could work wonders on Tyneside with the right tutelage.

Newcastle should consider signing Man United striker Rasmus Hojlund
While the likes of Goncalo Ramos and Samu Aghehowa are being eyed, they will likely cost eye-watering transfer fees. Newcastle could look towards the cheaper end of the market and sign someone who already has Premier League experience.
Rasmus Hojlund joined Manchester United from Atalanta in 2023 for a fee of around £74million, but has been unable to find good form under either Erik ten Hag or Ruben Amorim. Now, it has been reported by The Athletic that Hojlund will likely be allowed to leave Man United this summer.

The 22-year-old was an unused substitute for the Red Devils’ pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, and was completely omitted from the squad that faced Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday. At such a young age, Hojlund still has so much room to improve. He just needs the right person to take him under their wing.
Howe could be the ideal mentor for Hojlund, who can work with him and get the absolute best out of him. A tall striker, Hojlund has surprisingly good pace and a brilliant footballing mind, something Howe would surely love to utilise.
Rasmus Hojlund was spotted by Newcastle United’s new technical director
Hojlund should be available for around £45million this summer, a fee slightly higher than what they are hoping to pay for Wissa, but one they could make a profit on if the move goes well.
Rather surprisingly, Hojlund has links to someone who was recently appointed as the Magpies’ technical director.

Sudarshan Gopaladesikan was appointed Newcastle technical director in July and will report to the new sporting director when their appointment is confirmed. Gopaladesikan, better known as ‘Suds’ moved to Newcastle following several years at Serie A side Atalanta.
Coincidentally, Hojlund was originally spotted by Suds while he was playing for Sturm Graz in 2022. He recommended him to Atalanta’s transfer chiefs, who got the deal done that summer.
Perhaps Suds could convince Howe that a deal for Hojlund is the right way to go, with a new striker signing still seemingly far away.
