Six Gunners in contention at tonight's PFA Awards

The PFA Awards are taking place at the Manchester Opera House tonight, and we have six Gunners nominated for the top prizes.

Recognising outstanding performers from the 2024/25 campaign, the prizes are voted for by the players themselves and are deemed to be the most prestigious individual accolades in English football.

And this year, Declan Rice is a contender for the men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year award for 2024/25, as he goes up against Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer, Bruno Fernandes, Alexis Mac Allister and Alexander Isak.

Our No. 41 scooped our Player of the Season and Emirates Goal of the Season trophies last campaign, and was named in the Champions League Team of the Year, as he hopes to become the first Gunner to clinch the accolade since Robin van Persie in 2011/12.

Meanwhile, academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are both on the PFA Young Player of the Year list, after the pair enjoyed sparkling breakthrough seasons. Our last recipient of that was Bukayo Saka back in 2022/23, who followed in the footsteps of ex-Gunners Tony Adams, Paul Merson, Nicolas Anelka, Cesc Fabregas and Jack Wilshere.

Nominated for Women’s PFA Player of the Year are Mariona Caldentey, who registered nine goals and five assists in the top-flight, added eight more during our Champions League-winning campaign, and was named the WSL Player of the Year award, as well as scooping our club-wide prize.

Alessia Russo, who ended the WSL season as joint top scorer with 12 goals, is also on the six-player shortlist, as the pair hope to be the third Gunners to have their name engraved on the trophy after Kim Little and Vivianne Miedema.
