Aston Villa and Brentford have shown interest in signing Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard, according to The Mirror.
The Belgium international has been with the Gunners for the last two-and-a-half years, but his future is uncertain.
He was an unused substitute against Manchester United last weekend. Gabriel Martinelli and Noni Madueke were preferred on the left wing.
Manager Mikel Arteta still has his sights on signing a marquee left winger, but the club have to recoup funds from player sales for that to happen.
Trossard is ‘most likely’ to head for the exit door with Aston Villa, Brentford and several foreign clubs said to be interested in landing his signature.
Trossard could end up with Villa or Brentford
The 30-year-old has accumulated 51 goal contributions from 124 appearances for the Gunners.
His record is quite good, considering he has averaged only 54 minutes per outing.
Despite this, Arsenal could be looking to part ways with him to secure a reasonable fee.
The Belgian was signed from Brighton for £21 million upfront with add-ons, and Arsenal may want to recoup the investment, with the attacker having entered the last year of his deal.
The forward was in advanced negotiations with the Gunners over a new contract in May, but talks have stalled. His recent change of agents suggests that he is prepared to move on too.
Arsenal may prefer to do business with either Villa or Brentford, as they are capable of paying the asking price upfront.
The Gunners have a good working relationship with Brentford, having signed David Raya and Christian Norgaard from them. This could pave the way for a potential deal for Trossard.
However, we won’t be surprised if Trossard pushes for a move to Villa Park. Unai Emery’s side are in the Europa League. He could be tempted to join if he is guaranteed regular minutes.
