Leeds United close in on £13.5m transfer after ‘Magic’ Everton win – Deal imminent

Leeds United announced their return to the Premier League in style on Monday night with a win over Everton at Elland Road. The club seem to have taken that confidence into the transfer market as well and are now close to finalising the arrival of a ninth new signing this summer.

Lukas Nmecha’s 84th-minute strike from the penalty was good enough for Leeds to beat Everton 1-0 and pick up all three points in their opening Premier League game of the season at home. The Whites dominated the game and were deserving winners despite complaints about the penalty decision.

Leeds United are close to finalising the transfer of Noah Okafor

Leeds have been in advanced negotiations with AC Milan over a deal to sign the 25-year-old winger, and recently submitted a bid for him.

The talks between the two clubs have been progressing, and Okafor has been offered a four-year deal to move to Elland Road this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the two clubs are close to finalising the details of the deal that would see Leeds paying an initial fee of £13.5m for the winger.

The Switzerland winger is also interested in the move, and is inclined towards agreeing to move to Elland Road in the ongoing transfer window.

Okafor has had a few niggling injuries over the last three seasons, and Leeds have left it to their medical team to give their final approval to the move.

However, Leeds have been willing to gamble on their acquisitions this summer with the hope of keeping them fit this season.

Daniel Farke hails ‘magic’ Everton win

Leeds needed a good start to their Premier League campaign to get some early confidence, and that is exactly what they did on Monday night.

Farke’s men dominated the game and were the deserving winners. The Leeds boss admitted that it was a magical evening at Elland Road for the team and the fans.

“It was a magic night. It was special”, said the Leeds manager.

“We are happy and grateful for our supporters who had to suffer a lot over the years.

“It is great to see the joy and pride in their eyes, and great to give the supporters who are so emotional and care so much about this amazing club. It was a top performance. We were dominant in the first half and had 12 shots.

“That’s outstanding for a newly promoted side. I was a bit worried because we were so dominant, and normally you score.

“It can be costly when you don’t take your opportunities. But Lukas Nmecha took his opportunity. A hard-fought win but also a well-deserved win.”
