Newcastle United have shown interest in Nicolas Jackson amid the ongoing Alexander Isak & Liverpool saga.
Alexander Isak continues Newcastle United exile - trains alone as striker eyed should Liverpool move">As reported by NewcastleWorld last week, the Senegal international has emerged as a candidate to replace Alexander Isak, should the Swede get his wish and join Premier League champions Liverpool.
The prospect of signing Jackson divided Newcastle’s recruitment team just a few weeks ago, but that stance appears to have softened as Isak displays no remorse in his efforts to force an exit.
Isak sat out of Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia and has been training alone since the squad returned to Tyneside a fortnight ago, having turned down chances to reintegrate back into the group.

Despite it being a complicated situation, Newcastle have stood firm and will only sell if they find a replacement and Liverpool meet their reported £150million valuation. The Reds had a £110m offer rejected on August 1 and are yet to return to the table.
Whilst the saga is still ongoing, Eddie Howe’s side continue to assess the striker market, and having missed on the likes of Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, are currently discussing Jackson.
But according to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, so too are Aston Villa. He wrote on X: “Aston Villa have added Nicolas #Jackson to their shortlist and are closely monitoring his situation. Talks have already taken place.
“#AVFC Several clubs are interested. FC Bayern have also gathered information, but a move to Munich is not happening. The 24 y/o versatile striker is still on the verge of leaving #CFC. Aston Villa now there.”
Since joining from Villarreal two years ago, Jackson boasts a respectable record of 30 goals in 81 appearances, however now finds himself behind Pedro and Liam Delap, another player who Newcastle showed strong interest in at the beginning of the summer.
The latest on Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United future
With less than two weeks of the summer transfer remaining, the likelihood of Isak staying at Newcastle increases. Howe has after Saturday’s goalless draw at Villa that the door remains “well and truly open” for the player to return.

“Nothing's changed, but the door is well and truly open,” Howe said. “But, yeah, he has to decide what he wants to do.
“We would like a resolution. When I say we, I'm talking about myself and I'm sure the ownership of everyone, really the players that we have, because I think we need that clarity.
“This season, any season, Premier League season, is going to be hard enough. You don't need any kind of distraction to swerve your thoughts, to unbalance what we're doing. So, yes, but I'm certainly not in control of that and I think there's only one person really that can control it.”
