'Anything can happen': Everton handed transfer hope as £31m target opens the door to late move

Everton have been handed some optimism that one of their targets could be open to a move this summer.

Monday night will only have highlighted the need for Everton to get more business done in the transfer window.

David Moyes saw his side lose on the road against Leeds United in what was an underwhelming display from the Blues.

Everton conceded a controversial penalty against Leeds, which saw the Whites convert and take all three points.

Marquee signing Jack Grealish had to make do with a spot on the bench despite Moyes’ desire to add another winger at Everton.

It is believed Everton hold an interest in Tyler Dibling, but another target of theirs has now admitted he could be open to a move away this summer.

Malick Fofana opens door to Lyon exit amid Everton interest

Angus Kinnear has a list of options to chase at right-wing this summer, with Everton keen to sign Malick Fofana from Lyon.

It is not going to be an easy deal given Fofana has shown a desire to join a Champions League side, but he is open to an exit.

Everton have already had a £31m bid rejected for Fofana this summer.

Speaking over the weekend, Fofana admitted that an exit from John Textor’s Lyon cannot be ruled out this summer.

“If I stay at OL? Trick question,” Fofana responded to the French media.

“In football, anything can happen. If I stay, it will be by being happy to stay at Lyon.

“That’s it, we’ll see. It’s not that I want to leave, but if we have a good opportunity, we’ll see.”

Bayern Munich are also keen to sign Fofana this summer, which only piles the pressure on Everton’s pursuit of a new right winger.

Monday evening showed the need for the Blues to really bolster their options, with their attacking threat leaving a lot to be desired.

Everton need to sign a natural right winger

Carlos Alcaraz started the game on Monday night on the right wing, and it was clear he struggled to provide his usual impact.

With the arrivals of Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, the likes of Alcaraz and Dwight McNeil face a real challenge to earn minutes.

Alcaraz was signed permanently earlier this summer, but the Argentine did not look at home on the right wing at Elland Road.

Moyes will not want to open up the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday in the same fashion, which will surely have the club working tirelessly on new signings during the week.
