Aston Villa could agree a “knockout” deal for star player Morgan Rogers to boost their transfer budget this summer.
Football Insider revealed on 3 August Villa are doing everything they can to keep Rogers following interest from Chelsea.
Villa are set to offer Rogers a new contract despite his current deal running until 2030, having only put pen to paper over a new deal last November.
The England international has been a standout player for Unai Emery’s side since joining in a deal worth £8million plus a potential £7million in add-ons from Middlesbrough in January 2024.
Rogers, who registered 14 goals and 16 assists for Villa last season, played the full 90 minutes in their 0-0 draw against Newcastle United on Saturday (16 August).

Aston Villa agree £40m deal to boost player-trading profits
This article contains exclusive comment fromStefan Borson, a former financial adviser to Man City.
Villa have just sold academy product Jacob Ramsey to Newcastle United in a £40million deal as they look to improve their profit and sustainability (PSR) position.

The West Midlands giants have faced PSR issues over the past couple of seasons, with top-flight clubs only permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “The reality is they’ve got to try and cut the wage bill and got to try and make some player-trading profits.
“Obviously, the easiest way to make player-trading profits is to sell a player that costs nothing and make a big £40million from that deal.
“I wouldn’t imagine they’re going to be splashing out a lot on the back of that sale, if anything. I wouldn’t be surprised if they facilitate some buying by selling another player.
“Obviously, there are players like Leon Bailey. I think players like that will go, but they’re not going to generate big profits.
“So, that’s the question. Who have they got that can generate decent-sized profits now? Who’s got a low book value? If they can do that, then maybe they can invest.
“So, I wouldn’t expect them to be very busy between now and the end of the window unless somebody came along and made a knockout offer for a player where they’re going to make very significant profit.
“And we know that the obvious one there is a player they probably, in almost any scenario, don’t want to sell, and that’s Morgan Rogers.”
