7 records Mohamed Salah could break in the Premier League this season

A new season means only one thing, new records for Mohamed Salah to break – as ever, they always seem to be a matter of when, not if!

For the eighth time as a Liverpool player, Salah started the new Premier League season with a goal to take his tally in the English topflight to 187 – equal fourth in the all-time list.

And it ensures he has already stretched one record he already held, becoming the first to reach double figures (10) for goals in the first game of a Premier League campaign.

Start as you mean to go on!

As has become customary during his time at Anfield, records are consistently rewritten in his wake and he has the potential for more in his ninth season at Liverpool.

That includes the following:

More records will arise throughout the campaign for Salah to break, as they inevitably do, and he can also rise up the all-time charts for goals and assists.

He is currently joint-fourth for the most goals in the Premier League era alongside Andy Cole, and 27 league goals this season will see him move above Wayne Rooney (208) and Harry Kane (213) into second.

As for assists, he is currently 10th with 87. If he were to hit double figures – as he has done in six of his eight seasons – he will move above James Milner (89), Steven Gerrard (92), David Silva (93) and Dennis Bergkamp (94).

Arne Slot will continue to rely heavily on the Egyptian, but he will have the disadvantage of missing up to six league games this season due to the Africa Cup of Nations in December and January.
