Aston Villa player to arrive on Tuesday for medical – Agent says Villans man to start ‘new chapter’

On Monday, we covered claims from Italy that AS Roma’s negotiations to sign Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey was in the final stages.

Later that day, journalist Gianluca Di Marzio backed it up and reported the winger is a step away from leaving Aston Villa.

The Serie A side have made advances and have found an agreement with Aston Villa based on €3m loan fee plus €22m purchase option. That’s according to Sport Mediaset, who report Bailey will arrive in Rome in the next few hours.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports the Giallorossi have an agreement with Unai Emery’s side to sign the winger. The loan fee is €2m and the option to buy is €22m, and this is a ‘done deal’.

Bailey’s agent Craig Butler has confirmed that his client is on the way to join Gian Piero Gasperini’s side and Solo la Roma have relayed his comments.

“Leon will begin a new chapter as a Roma player. A gladiator arrives tonight, ready to work with his new teammates to make the people of Rome happy and victorious. Loyalty, dedication, and belief are the keys. Let’s keep going,” he said.

Although the agent said the player was set to arrive in Italy on Monday, Di Marzio says otherwise.

He reports the Jamaica international will arrive in Italy on Tuesday. Bailey will then undergo medical tests and sign his contract with the Italian club to formalise the transfer.
