Chelsea ‘promise to make official offer soon’ – Agreement with player in place

Earlier this month, we covered claims from Germany which stated RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons is keen on joining Chelsea this summer.

On Monday, Bild reported the Bundesliga club expect to receive a bid from the Blues for Simons.

Leipzig sporting director Marcel Schäfer said they will sell him to Chelsea or another club if they were to receive a convincing offer.

Enzo Maresca’s side haven’t made a concrete approach yet as they have to get rid of some players. Sky Deutschland now report there could be developments soon in this transfer poker.

The attacking midfielder has been attracting interest from Bayern Munich and others, but he’s only focused on Chelsea. It’s claimed the 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Club World Cup winners.

Sky have found out that there’s a ‘promise behind the scenes to make an official offer soon’.

Leipzig will face Bayern Munich in their first league game of this season on Friday and Simons is set to be in the squad. According to Sky, his transfer to Chelsea is expected to speed up after this fixture.
