Newcastle United retain a firm interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, and he wants to move to the St James’ Park club, according to The Athletic. Newcastle are holding talks with intermediaries to get a deal done for the 25-year-old, and they have yet to contact Wolves. The Toons are desperate to bolster their striking options after Alexander Isak made it clear he wants out. A deal for Strand Larsen is not more advanced than other options, but the Norwegian international is among a small group of names under consideration.
He notched 14 goals and four assists in 35 Premier League appearances last term, and his impressive debut campaign in England has caught the attention of Newcastle. Strand Larsen ended his last season in La Liga with 13 goals and three assists in 37 games for Girona back in 2023-24. Alan Shearer was impressed with his performance after bagging the winner against Ipswich Town back in April, and the Toons legend would be glad to see him move to his beloved club.
“His hold-up play was excellent,” Shearer said at the time.
“His touch and control were superb.”
His international teammate and Manchester City counterpart Erling Haaland was also blown away. “Mannnn” followed by two fire emojis when responding to the social media post of the Newcastle target was his reaction.
