Ineos must respond to foreign club's£17m offer to world class Man Utd linked goalkeeper, he's an Onana upgrade

After Premier League gameweek one, there is a position which is clearly in need of an upgrade at Manchester United.

Ruben Amorim will be thrilled with his Manchester United team, after they played Arsenal off the park for much of the opening weekend clash between the two big six clubs.

Right out of the gate, Arsenal had no answer to the direct attacking threat offered by Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.

Cunha in particular has been raved over, after he tore through the Gunners more than once with his powerful dribbling.

United deserved three points against Arsenal, with some brilliant football being displayed, but ultimately it wasn’t to be with a couple of penalty shouts going astray and then also the Arsenal goal which should not have counted due to Altay Bayindir being fouled in the lead up.

This was a disappointing conclusion to an exciting opening game.

Galatasaray make offer for Diogo Costa

Bayindir’s blunder for United was called out by Roy Keane, despite the shouts over a foul, and as a result the desire for a new shot stopper is once more at the forefront of United fans’ minds.

Andre Onana still hasn’t played for United this summer as he recovers from injury, and he would be an upgrade on Bayindir once he returns. However, the Cameroonian isn’t exactly a safe pair of hands.

So as a result, United need a new goalkeeper and now an incredible option may be in the market.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Galatasaray have offered Porto just £17m (€20m) plus add-ons for Diogo Costa.

The official bid is Galatasaray’s back-up option to Ederson from Manchester City if that falls through, however, if this price is accurate to what the Portuguese side want, United must make a move.

Manchester United need to rival Galatasaray for Costa

Signing Costa would be a huge deal for United, with the Portugal international perceived as being one of the best in the world.

United have wanted Costa for years, and in 2023, chose to sign Onana over the Porto star.

Back in January, Amorim held talks with Costa over a United move, with the goalkeeper his favoured choice if a new number one was to arrive this summer.

Bruno Fernandes has labelled Costa as one of the best in the world, which is an accurate description, and up until now this has meant he would cost £42m at least, a fee which has dropped over the past year.

Now, if United could go and outbid Galatasaray with £25m or £30m, it would be absolutely worth the money and a massive upgrade on what the Red Devils currently have.

It makes too much sense not to complete this deal.
