**Brentford are currently doing all it can to keep Yoane Wissa at the club, which is forcing Newcastle United to look elsewhere.**
Yoane Wissa is looking like another transfer that looked pretty easy to do, but will ultimately come to nothing. The 28-year-old has downed tools at Brentford to force a move, but the Bees are standing firm and have increased their asking price for Wissa, knowing how desperate Newcastle are for a centre-forward.
Newcastle will not be drawn into any such games, and the PIF certainly won't sanction a £60 million outlay on a 28-year-old striker to replace Callum Wilson.
Thankfully, the Magpies have other targets in mind, and David Ornstein has reported today that early talks are underway for Wolverhampton Wanderers' Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Newcastle have begun talks with Jordan Strand Larsen via intermediaries

Ornstein makes it clear that it's early days, but the 25-year-old is reportedly keen on the move to the North East if a deal can be struck.
> 🚨 Newcastle retain firm interest in Jorgen Strand Larsen. Not more advanced than other options but 25yo Wolves forward among small group being considered. Talks via intermediaries + Norway int’l keen on #NUFC but not agitating to exit #WWFC
Strand Larsen only became a permanent Wolves player this summer after activating the option to buy from his loan last season, but they could be willing to sell if they make a decent profit.
Jorgen Strand Larsen looks like a better option all round

Between Brentford's determination to keep Yoane Wissa and the player's behaviour to force the move, we'd actually prefer if we did make the move for Strand Larsen.
We can't in good conscience sit here and condemn Alexander Isak for his action while welcoming Yoane Wissa with open arms when he's doing the same thing.
Signing Jorgen Strand Larsen would take that awkwardness out of the equation, and we'd still be getting a very good replacement for Callum Wilson. One who is far younger than Wissa, too. Let's hope something can be arranged.
