Tottenham Hotspur have received a major boost in their pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, with Arsenal no longer in the race for the England international. While talks on Monday failed to reach a final agreement, discussions remain ongoing and sources suggest there is still a strong chance a deal will be completed before the deadline.

Arsenal have long admired Eze but never viewed him as a priority option. Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta considered the Palace man more of a number ten than a natural solution for the left wing. With Martin Ødegaard, Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman already competing for central roles, the Gunners have shifted their focus elsewhere in the market.

Tottenham, meanwhile, are pressing ahead. Thomas Frank sees Eze as a versatile option who could cover both the left flank and central attacking roles, especially with James Maddison injured and Son Heung-min departing earlier in the window. Crystal Palace are demanding over £60 million, and although the price is high, Spurs have shown a willingness to pay significant fees under Daniel Levy in recent windows.

Palace chairman Steve Parish is reluctant but prepared to sanction Eze’s departure provided their valuation is met. The 27-year-old has been a standout figure at Selhurst Park since arriving from QPR in 2020, and while Palace want to hold onto their star, the financial realities and the player’s ambition to compete at a higher level may force a sale.
With Arsenal stepping away, Tottenham are effectively in a one-horse race for Eze. The outcome now depends on whether they are willing to match Palace’s demands before the window closes.
