The 18-year-old, who only joined City from Rosenborg this summer for £12.5m, has linked up with [Boro](http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/football/middlesbrough) on a season long loan move.
The Norwegian youngster was at the Riverside on Monday for the open training session, where he signed autographs for fans, and has now been confirmed as the club's fifth signing of the summer.
Nypan made his debut for Rosenborg when he was just 15 and went on to make 70 appearances for the club before leaving for Manchester City this summer.
City's plan was always to send Nypan out on loan, and the Premier League club, the player and his representatives all viewed Boro club to continue his progression and development.

City have extremely high hopes for Nypan. When they signed him last month, director of football Hugo Viana said: “We feel that he already has numerous standout qualities but that at only 18 years of age, he is only going to continue to improve.
“We believe he will be an important asset for Manchester City in the years to come and we will support him every step of the way in his development.”
Nypan is predominantly a central midfielder, but is versatile and can also as an attacking midfielder, on the flanks and even up-front.
Nypan will be followed through the door at at the Riverside by Adilson Malanda, with Boro having won the battle to sign the in-demand Charlotte FC centre-half.
Malanda will put pen to paper on a permanent deal at Boro but will then return to Charlotte FC on loan until the end of the MLS season. He'll then take a break before joining up with Boro and will be registered to play from January.
Boro have beaten several clubs to the signings of both Nypan and Malanda.
Nypan's dad, Arne, recently told of how there were "seven or eight clubs" keen on signing the young midfielder on loan.
Malanda, meanwhile, of interest to clubs including PSV, Club Brugges and Norwich City this summer.
