Marinakis in Comolli telephone call to try and seal arrival – Nottingham Forest boss is hands on

On Monday, Corriere dello Sport reported talks between Juventus and Nottingham Forest were ongoing for Douglas Luiz.

With the Italian side pushing to earn a total of €40m from the sale, Forest have been trying to drag them closer to €30m.

Today’s TuttoSport, a Turin newspaper, reports only a few details are now missing for an agreement between Juve and Nottingham Forest.

Yesterday, there was direct telephone contact between the Old Lady’s managing director Damien Comolli and the Premier League club’s owner Evangelos Marinakis, as they looked to put the transfer on the ‘right track’.

The newspaper believe the 27-year-old is now destined to join Nottingham Forest, and state: ‘Douglas is increasingly destined for Nottingham for a fee just over €30m, on a costly loan with a relatively manageable, easy buyout.’

What that means, precisely, isn’t clear but it could in reference to a loan with an obligation to buy based on certain conditions.

Juve have always showed an openness towards letting the Brazilian depart if suitors included the possibility of signing him permanently. Even if they could settle for less than €40m, the sale will not be recorded as a major loss on their accounts.

Marinakis’ hands-on approach is proving key for Nottingham Forest, with Juve having identified Brighton’s Matt O’Riley as a replacement for Douglas Luiz.
