Our action against abuse and discrimination

We continue to stand firmly against all forms of abuse and discrimination and are taking clear action to make Arsenal a safe space for everyone.

We can confirm that 17 supporters were banned for abusive and discriminatory behaviour during the 2024/25 season. This includes 11 for abuse in stadium, as well as six members for online abuse.

This continues a year-on-year decrease on the 31 supporters banned in 2022/23 and 24 supporters banned in 2023/24.

Each supporter has been banned for between one and three years, during which they are prohibited from attending any Arsenal match, home or away.

We continue to assist the Met Police in nine other investigations, in which all supporters remain suspended pending the resolution of their cases.

The bans are broken down by the following offences:

In-stadium offences – 11

Assault - 3

Sexual language/harassment - 3

Racism - 2

Public order offence - 2

Antisocial behaviour - 1

Online offences – 6

Death threats - 3

Homophobia - 2

Abuse - 1

We continue to work with data science company Signify Group, using its specialist Threat Matrix service to support our efforts in combating targeted online abuse.

Threat Matrix is used to monitor social media channels to support the club in detecting and reporting content targeting our players and staff. We work closely with Signify to identify, unmask and take action against abusive accounts. Where abuse is detected, we work with social media companies and law enforcement to ensure the appropriate action is taken.

This season, we verified around 4,500 posts as abusive towards our players and staff – down slightly on last season – which were reported to the respective social media platforms. Of these, six identified abusers were given one- or three-year bans, and one resulted in law enforcement action.

Our Managing Director, Richard Garlick, said: “Abusive and discriminatory behaviour has no place at our club. Whilst we know that it often comes from a small minority, that will not stop us from acting against abusers who are identified as Arsenal season ticket holders or members and escalating these incidents to law enforcement where appropriate.

“We will continue to take swift and decisive action to tackle abuse of any kind as we continue to build a home where everyone feels safe and welcome.”

Ongoing education

Education is an important part of our strategy for tackling abuse and discrimination. Individuals who have been banned are offered the chance to reduce the length of punishment if they attend a one-to-one education programme run by Kick It Out.

Individuals who go through the programme discuss the impact of their behaviour on others and need to demonstrate a willingness to reflect and change their mindset.

We run inclusion workshops and events in our local community to support education on the topics of abuse and discrimination.

We continue to lift the voices of our supporters and champion our communities through campaigns and initiatives that celebrate and champion diversity and inclusion.

If supporters witness any form of offensive behaviour, they can report it to their nearest steward or police officer on matchday.

Supporters may also use our anonymous ‘See Something, Say Something’ service by texting “Foul” to 67777 together with a description of the incident and location where it is taking place (such as the block, row and seat number). This service protects supporters’ anonymity should they feel uncomfortable speaking to stewards publicly.

Abuse in the stadium or online can also be reportedvia our website, or to the Premier League throughthese channels.
