The latest Manchester City transfer news and gossip in the final weeks of the summer window.
Manchester City are reportedly reluctant to sell Savinho in the final weeks of the summer transfer window in case he comes back to haunt them like Cole Palmer has. The 21-year-old was identified as a top target by Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank, who believes the Brazilian winger could form a key part of his revamped squad this season.
City only signed Savinho from Troyes a year ago, and he has already made 48 appearances for the club across all competitions since he arrived. He has also made 13 appearances for the Brazil national side and is a player with enormous room for growth if he manages to get regular playing time.
Pep Guardiola's side have been reluctant to sell Savinho this summer but have identified Real Madrid star Rodrygo as a potential replacement if Tottenham present an offer that is too good to turn down. The youngster is expected to remain at City beyond deadline day, with the Blues reluctant to sell a player who still has so much to offer.

Romano issues Savinho update
Speaking in his latest YouTube video released on Tuesday morning, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Savinho's future at the club. Romano reiterated that a deal was unlikely and also revealed that an unnamed City chief is reluctant to sanction a sale just in case he goes on to emulate the success Cole Palmer has achieved at Chelsea.
"Manchester City are still not accepting Tottenham's proposal for Savinho," Romano stated. "I keep receiving many questions asking if the story is over, if the deal is off. Look, guys, there is someone specific, very important at Manchester City blocking the deal for Savinho to Tottenham.
"The player is keen on a move to Tottenham but the player is not breaking his relationship with Manchester City. So the player is in a position where if he can go Tottenham, he is happy because Thomas Frank wants to make him one of the faces of the project, because he could play on a regular basis. Savinho would like to go to Tottenham, but he is not like Tottenham or nothing. It’s not that sort of a situation. But there is someone in the management of Manchester City, the board of Manchester City with a strong desire to keep the player. Probably also because we also saw what happened with Cole Palmer. Cole Palmer to Chelsea is still something that remains in the eyes of Manchester City.”
“For Savinho, there is someone at Man City believing it could be the same case. Savinho is still very young, did quite well in his first season at Manchester City, still has a lot of potential, a lot to develop, so maybe someone at the club, from what I’m hearing, is still saying wait before selling Savinho, he can still develop here.
"Tottenham don't want to give up, Tottenham still want to try. But still no green light from Manchester City. Obviously, if Savinho does not go to Tottenham, Man City are not going for Rodrygo. It completely depends on Savinho. If he goes to Tottenham, Rodrygo is the top target for Man City. The only thing is Rodrygo. He is not desperate to leave Real Madrid, he is not asking to leave Real Madrid, so at the moment nothing has happened for all these parties."
