Shedeur Sanders, Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback, and other players on the team got a reality check handed to them by head coach Kevin Stefanski. After two preseason games, head coach Stefanski made a startling announcement that the team will not be able to play all their quarterbacks and that at least one of them will have to go.
Stefanski did not specify which quarterback will be forced to leave the team, but it pretty much boils down to either of the rookies, Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel. The Browns’ head coach also stated that the team would announce their starting quarterback sometime this week.

“I think we’ll let it play out as we get closer to the cut down. Those are all conversations that we are always having, but those are tough decisions. You know, I’d like to keep everybody, but not realistic. Obviously, we’ll name a starter. It’s going to come this week. We still anticipate all of our players, whether you’re the starter or not, to prepare like you’re the starter, and knowing all of our players in that room, that’s exactly what they’ll do.” Cleveland Browns head coach, Kevin Stefanski said to reporters about the quarterback situation in the team’s locker room.
The Cleveland Browns have two pretty smart veteran quarterbacks in Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett, who seem like very dependable investments. But the two rookies have also proven themselves in the last two preseason games. Out of the two, Shedeur Sanders has definitely out-proven Dillon Gabriel with his two touchdowns in the first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
Shedeur Sanders’ Preseason Performance Compared To Dillon Gabriel By Dan Orlovsky
Shedeur Sanders was a dynamo in the first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, chalking up two touchdowns with 14 pass completions out of 23 attempts, helping the Browns win 30-10. In the second preseason game, Dillon Gabriel led the offense and clearly struggled with 13 pass completions out of 18 attempts with no scores.Still, NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky felt that Gabriel did better between the two.

“I thought tape-wise it was better than Shedeur’s. Tape-wise, it looked very similar to Tua Tagovailoa.”Dan Orlovsky said about Dillon Gabriel on ESPN’s ‘Get Up’.
Orlovsky went on to praise Dillon Gabriel’s ball placement and how the rookie quarterback was doing things very differently on the field. It still remains to be seen whether Sanders or Gabriel will make it to the Browns roster for the 2025 NFL season.
