Newcastle United are yet to sign a striker this summer and it stands won’t sanction Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool.

The 28-year-old informed the Bees of his desire to join Newcastle last month and was led to believe the £42.5million club-record signing of Dango Ouattara from AFC Bournemouth would green-light his move to St James’ Park.

However, speaking after Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest - a game that Wissa missed due to the transfer speculation - manager Keith Andrews said he instead regarded Ouattara as Bryan Mbeumo’s replacement.

As per talkSPORT, the Bees won’t sanction an exit for Wissa without signing another forward, or unless Newcastle up their bid to £60million. The Magpies had a previous bid of £25m turned down before a £35m package was mooted.

How Yoane Wissa feels about Brentford’s stance

Sheth says Wissa is angry at Brentford’s stance as he believes he was given assurances that he would be allowed to leave this summer, though club sources deny that being the case.

Wissa left the Bees’ training camp in Portugal last month and didn’t feature in any of their pre-season games, having refused to take part in team training. He has trained since but was left out of the squad that were beaten at the City Ground on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The DR Congo international believes all his actions - including his intention never to play for the club again - are warranted. The West London outfit have not fined or disciplined him, and Wissa feels that is because he has done nothing wrong.

Newcastle United looking to sign two strikers before window closes

Newcastle are still looking to sign two strikers before the transfer window closes on September 1 after losing Callum Wilson to West Ham United on a free transfer, while Alexander Isak has signalled his intention to join Premier League champions Liverpool.

Although Wissa is viewed as a Wilson replacement, Newcastle’s failure to sign him would reduce the chances of sanctioning Isak’s exit.

“I think it's been my wish to get a striker and we needed to replace Callum most,” Eddie Howe told NewcastleWorld after the goalless draw at Aston Villa on Saturday. “I can't say that enough. It's not like we're looking at any other area.

“We've been looking to recruit a striker to replace Callum. Callum's a big miss, not just his playing ability, but his personality. So that's what we're looking to do.”

In a similar situation to Wissa, Isak has been refusing to train or play with his teammates and has rejected efforts from Howe to reintegrate him into the squad.

“No, nothing's changed, but the door is well and truly open,” Howe said. “But, yeah, he has to decide what he wants to do.

“We would like a resolution. When I say we, I'm talking about myself and I'm sure the ownership of everyone, including the players that we have, because I think we need that clarity.

“This season, any season, every season is going to be hard enough. You don't need any kind of distraction to swerve your thoughts, to unbalance what we're doing.”
