Lucas Perri is only a few weeks into life at Leeds United, but the Brazilian goalkeeper has already been struck by the atmosphere surrounding the club.
[Speaking to ESPN Brasil](https://www.espn.com.br/futebol/premier-league/artigo/_/id/15548636/ex-botafogo-lucas-perri-revela-propostas-apos-brilhar-lyon-diz-por-que-decidiu-voltar-premier-league), the 27-year-old praised the passion of supporters and the unique way English fans embrace their teams.
_“Culturally it is different. They support a lot, they use the club and give full backing to the players. It was very nice to see the reaction to my signing,”_ Perri explained.
He pointed out that even a pre-season friendly left a strong impression: _“We had a friendly against Villarreal with 35,000 people in the stadium, almost at capacity. They are very passionate, they love the club and the city. It’s a very different atmosphere.”_
The goalkeeper, who was signed for €16m from Lyon, arrives as Leeds’ new number one and has been welcomed enthusiastically by fans at Elland Road. After spells at São Paulo, Botafogo and Lyon, he admits that the Premier League provides a different type of football culture that he is eager to embrace.
Perri also acknowledged that he has fond memories of his time in France, but feels his decision to join Leeds was vindicated by the reception in Yorkshire. Having once been on loan at Crystal Palace without featuring in competitive matches, he now gets a second chance to prove himself in English football.
For Leeds United supporters, the early signs are promising, and the Brazilian seems equally convinced by the project. How quickly he adapts to life in the Premier League remains to be seen, but his words suggest he is already feeling at home.
