Manchester City will accept an offer for Rico Lewis from Nottingham Forest after a source’s reveal at the Etihad Stadium.

Forest have been linked with Lewis as they look to continue their recent spending spree at the City Ground.

However, the England international started for Pep Guardiola’s side in the 4-0 victory over Wolves on Saturday (16 August).

After the game at Molineux, Lewis admitted he wants to remain with Man City, referring to them as his “dream club”.

Fellow Man City academy product James McAtee has joined Forest over the past few days, with the deal worth around £30million.

Nottingham Forest could double Rico Lewis’s wages

This article contains exclusive comment fromStefan Borson, a former financial adviser to Man City.

Lewis has made 95 appearances for Man City since making his debut in August 2022, registering five goals and 10 assists during that time.

Forest could reportedly double the 20-year-old’s wages if he were to make the move to the City Ground this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “I have heard that there is interest, so I do think there is some truth in that story.

“What fee was actually offered, I don’t know.

“City have sold McAtee for £30million all in, but he had a year left of his contract, and then City have also got a buyback and the sell-on.

“I think City are just not going to give Rico Lewis away.

“He’s one of a small number of options at right-back.

“They will sell, but I just don’t think they’re going to give him away.

“I think if they could probably get £30million plus £5million, it’s probably the sort of zone that City would probably go for that, probably with a sell-on and a buyback maybe makes things a bit easier for them to cope with.”

Man City concerned about Rodri as Real Madrid make public move

In terms of other transfer activity at the Etihad, recruitment expert Mick Brown told Football Insider Man City are concerned Rodri could have his head turned by Real Madrid after being publicly open about their interest.

However, Guardiola’s side are working behind the scenes to offer the 29-year-old a new contract in an attempt to persuade him to commit his long-term future to the club.

The Spain international’s current deal is set to expire at the Etihad in June 2027.
