Fenerbahce closing in on Zinchenko

Arsenal have reportedly struck a deal with Fenerbahce to move on Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer window.

Zinchenko set to join Fenerbahce

Oleksandr Zinchenko’s spell in North London appears to be nearing its final chapter. As reported in Spain, a move for the defender to Turkish side Fenerbahce is close. The move will be for a fee in the region of £8.5m.

Zinchenko joined the club from Manchester City in 2022 He quickly made himself a part of the Mikel Arteta squad. He established himself as a regular starter in the first two seasons and at times as captain. Although, last season he lost most of that influence.

Missing from the squad in the opening win against Man United only added weight to the exit talk. Meanwhile, his contract is running down and younger options are stepping up. So, the club has decided to cash in before his value dips further.

Arsenal shaping a new-look squad

While Zinchenko’s exit marks the end of an era for the Gunners, **Arsenal**’s aim remain crystal clear. Arteta has signed plenty of players this summer. He has brought them in to push the side closer to long-awaited silverware. After three straight years of finishing runners-up in the PL, the North Londoner side is desperate to finally break through.

The decision to sell Zinchenko is as much about strategy as finances. Riccardo Calafiori and rising academy product Myles Lewis-Skelly are already providing cover at left-back. That said, Arsenal look comfortable letting the experienced defender move on.

On the other hand, Fenerbahce will be making a statement signing. They will be adding a player with PL pedigree and UCL experience. For the Gunners, this is a smart move as they are shaping the squad before yet another tough season. Zinchenko’s eixt will likely hurt the fans who loved his passion. But, it shows the natural changes in a team focused on genuine development.
